Tea, anyone?

The swarming masses were a bit overwhelming; especially when they were all chanting, holding up hate-signs, beating drums, and walking in one, huge parade around the Capitol. We weren't with them for very long, and for the most part I didn't mind them. After all, everyone has a right to stand for what they believe...sometimes it's just more inconvenient than other times.

Mom was on the look out for the Tea Party group. While we were searching, we had to walk against the constant flow of hate-signs.

"Goodness!" I said, tapping Mom on the shoulder. "Is this our way of protesting? Walking in the opposite direction of everyone else?"

A few minutes later, I was ready to hug the first Republican I could find. Our search was ended when we neared the Capitol. (And no, I didn't hug anyone, but I was definitely glad to see everybody.) Suddenly all the signs changed, and it was "Scott Walker for President", and the like. A total switch.

There was a war-like feeling to the whole thing. But as I stood, shouting with everyone, I was thinking, "Wow! This is great! In other countries, people might be shot down for saying what they think, especially when it's against the President himself!"

So, be thankful. All of you. :)

  2. I toootally know how you feel. Those protests were overwhelming, intimidating, and... well... downright frusterating and provoking. =P A few of the people who were holding awful signs narrowly escaped flaming glares from me... yeah. And I didn't even get to counter-protest. ;)

A good experience, all in all. Even if it is aggravating. =P
