You knew this day was coming. Even when others had given up all hope, you had faith that I would return. Oh yes. For the past year, you've been pushing "refresh" on my blog, hoping that a new post would appear. Well, today is your lucky day, 'cuz here it is. A new post. I bet this is the best day of your life. (Say yes.)
Okay, okay, maybe not. More realistically, you probably forgot entirely that I even kept a blog. Now, you're staring at my front page, wondering if you've ever seen it before. Hopefully, you're not looking at my picture, thinking the same thing. (Emily? Did I know an Emily?) If this is the case, please don't tell me. I'd rather blissfully believe that you've been eagerly awaiting this new post.
I haven't updated this poor blog for a while because I misunderstood the reason for blogging. I was convinced that, with every post, I was supposed to inspire you to greatness. Each update needed to include great depths of insight. I needed to say things that would affect the rest of your lives! As a result, I became too scared to post much, and this poor blog was always in a state of neglect.
The veil was finally lifted in a recent conversation with my brother. Like, really recent. A couple hours ago, Jonathan pointed out that the reason for blogging can be viewed as a jumping-off point for conversation. Suddenly, the pressure has eased. I can just be your friend; I no longer have to be your superior. Isn't that great? I love jumping-off points. Like this one.
Hey Emily! So neat to see you blogging again! And yes you are exactly right :) blog posts don't have to be amazingly awesome telling always about exciting news that's happening in our lives! They can be simply for conversation with others and such ;)
ReplyDeleteHope you're doing well! God bless!
A servant for Christ,

This is the best day of my life.
ReplyDeleteOh, Heather. Thank you. No, I--I really mean it. Thank you so much. You just *sniff* made my day that much brighter. *dabs eye with tissue*
